Position: Caretaker

Salary: £28,923 + 4% pay award from 1st April 2026

Location: 192 Torrington Avenue, Coventry CV4 9AJ

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7.4hrs per day (potentially working Saturday and Sunday, to be confirmed)

Key Responsibilities:

You will be first point of contact for customer, offering advice and assistance.  You will be required to carry out minor repairs to the blocks (both internal and external).  To be able to monitor and observe activity within the blocks and report inappropriate behaviour. Report repairs and ASB issues within the block. To keep the blocks up to a high standard of cleanliness. You will report into the Cleaning Manager.

In housing you can make a real difference, the role of Caretaker will involve:

  • Knowledge of the blocks in the Barley Lea, The Lindfield and Whitworth Ave area of Coventry
  • Being a presence in the block engaging with residents, providing knowledge and helpful information and able to assist with queries
  • Carrying out block inspections dealing with any hazards or spillages and reporting,
  • Being responsible for the cleaning of the block to a high standard of cleanliness internally and externally as per the cleaning specification to ensure the block is clean at all times
  • Identifying Safeguarding issues and report appropriately
  • Carrying out meter readings as requested by tenants

As Caretaker, we need you to have:

  • Previous knowledge and cleaning experience in blocks
  • Decisive, capable and balanced in dealing with a wide range of day to day operational issues, decisions and pressures
  • Team player with the ability to build relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Hours of work will be as specified in offer letters and may include the need to work weekends and when necessary to be available to give advice and support outside normal rota hours
